A little over four years ago Anton, out of the blue, told me he was thinking of buying a professional camcorder on Ebay, I thought “Ok, this should be interesting…”  he had never owned even a handy cam. It arrived a couple of weeks later and it didnt take long to realize that Anton was going to submerged himself in this new found interest.  Like most things in his life that he is passionate about Anton took on the challenge of learning everything he needed to know and then some. The stories he tells today through video started off with small steps. One of those small steps was taking an “Intro to Film” class at a local junior college.  Little did I know that his new “interest” would land me in the middle of my acting debut.  Recently, we came across his final project for that class, which Anton scripted, directed and produced.  Unfortunately, my acting didn’t do it justice.  The Job is still one of my favorite projects by Anton.  Hope you enjoy it!

3 great couples, 3 sweet locations and a photographer that really put her heart and soul into her promo. We were so happy to work with Stephanie Fay on this project. It was one of those things where everything seemed to just come together perfectly, the people, the weather and the energy of the day. Stephanie was so well thought out on who and where we would shoot that it really shows in the amount of footage we captured in such a short time.

The goal of all of our promos is to tell a story and give greater insight into our subjects and their passions, I hope that this promo communicates that to Stephanie’s clients. Thanks Stephanie!
Special thanks to Loft 19.

Productions info: 1.5 day shoot, 5D & 7D,  16-35mm, 70-200mm, 85mm 1.2, H4N audio, Glidecam stabilizer.

It started with a conversation about possibly working on a photographer promo for Bob and Dawn Davis sometime this year. However when Dawn mentioned  they would be in Switzerland in a few weeks I thought to myself, that would be an awesome location, too bad it’s so soon and I’m so busy. Well, I was too busy but I went anyway. I mean, Switzerland for a job? I live for this stuff!

We shot some incredible footage, not hard in a country that is so picturesque. I’m really looking forward to editing this promo for the Davis’s. Beyond work, I brought the family. Abby wasn’t about to let me go to Switzerland without her and Trever(my daughter). Needless to say, we loved it.

Thank you to Bob and Dawn for trusting Lorimerworks to work on another project. It always means so much to have you guys put your passions and livelihood in my hands(insert evil laugh) ;) To Alli and Bobby you kept the group lively and on our toes, dont hurt yourself with those army knives. And thanks to Daniel Zihlmann for the behind the scene shots and for being such a great host.

smug-post2

Over the past few years, Lorimerworks has started to accumulate quite a bit of work and recently I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to showcase some of our favorites so that they are accessible to our client and fans.

I found the template of my website a little confining and though my blog is a great place to debut work it does not serve as a place to showcase our portfolio in whole.

Enter SmugMug. Not only is the video quality stunning when hosted at SmugMug but the fact that you can customize your pages to match your branding and tastes has made it an easy choice and a great solution to my needs.

We created a homepage that clearly showcases our work in a variety of categories such as Photographer promos, Business profiles and even a few weddings. In the near future I plan to add a miscellaneous gallery where I can post things that I may not necessarily blog or upload to my traditional site. The flexibility is a huge plus!. Check it out!

I’ve blogged about our trip and about the trailer I released a few months back. I’m happy to report the the main documentary is complete. It was an experience of a lifetime to work on this project. I hope in the end it achieves its purpose which is to bring some help and relief to those in need through Thirst Relief International.

Thank you to everyone involved, especially Jim Davis-Hicks for choosing Lorimerworks to tell the story of the amazing work you’re doing around the world, to Bob and Dawn Davis for all of your talent and giving hearts, Kenny Kim for helping tell the story through still imagery.

Spread the word and feel free to blog and embed the video.

Documentary: Main Feature 14 min, Short Promo 4 min

Main Feature:

Short Promo:

A few months back I had the pleasure of going out to Boston to shoot a few promos. One of which was for fashion and boudoir photographer Shannon Michelle. It was my first time to Boston and I met a lot of great people, wish I had more time there, next boston promo I guess.

This project was a bit different as we weren’t out and about shooting a bridal couple rather inside playing with angles and lighting. I think it made for a great mix of mood and intimacy while communicating Shannon’s love for what she does.

San Francisco to Dubai to Dar Es Salaam, 22hrs of flying and over 10,000 miles. You can’t get much further away from San Francisco than Tanzania in distance and in some respects, life. It was a trip of a lifetime and I’m looking forward to editing the main documentary however in the meantime I’ve put together a quick trailer to wet some appetites.

Over the last year it has been a slow migration from my traditional camcorder(XH-A1) to shooting 100% Canon DSLRs but it has happened. Bob Davis and I shot all of our footage on the 5D & 7D. In post I went for something a little non traditional in terms of this type of video, we went with a little more of an urban edge. Hope you like.

  • Very nice. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this.

  • well…i already LOVE the trailer…i can’t wait to see the finished product…but you know i’m such a fan of your work & it will be nothing less than stellar!!! thank you for sharing!!!

  • Anton,

You never cease to amaze me. I know the final product you create will be absolutely amazing and it will show the desperate need for clean water and what Thirst Relief International is doing to help. You, Bob, Jim and Kenny inspire the rest of us to continue to give back, not only financially, but through the talents we have been blessed by God.

Bob and I have always been huge supporters of Thrist Relief Int’l. Ih hope this inspires others to support their efforts as well.

Thank you for this trailer… can’t wait to see more.

  • Awesome trailer Anton. I’m always a fan of your work. It was a privilege to go on this trip with you and you are 100% - it was a trip of a life time. I hope to do more projects like this in the future and hope that you will be part of it with me. :) Good times!

  • May our faith in each other continue to bring faith to those who are in need. Thank you for this relief without you there would be no lead.

  • oH ehM Gee!!!!! you re absolutely amazing!!!! I was so waiting for this and I cant waaaait to see the finished movie!!! Thanks for you, Kenny bob and Jim!!!

  • Awesome work! I expected nothing less from you. Can’t wait to see the remainder of the project. Happy holidays to you, Abby and Trevor.

  • AWESOME work.

From the onset of working with Graphistudio I had  hoped to eventually make it to their headquarters in Italy, to see their factory and of course the elusive castle that I’ve heard so much about. So you can imagine I was pretty excited to get the call to go out and create a promo for them this summer. It was an incredible trip. The food alone was worth it with three hour meals, I ate more prosciutto than should be legal. I did find time however to shoot a bit.

It was a tall order to fly to Italy, shoot a factory, a castle and interview various people in hopes to create a promo video that wasn’t about any one person or product but a whole company and its culture and passion. I quickly found there was no shortage of passion in Italy which in turn inspired me further to create this profile that I hope communicates Graphi’s enthusiasm and dedication to their product and customers.

Special thanks to the Graphistudio team, Keith Thompson and of course Jim and Katarina Garner.

It’s been an amazing year with so many people and places responsible. Our next trip seems a fitting wrap to the Lorimerworks 2009 schedule, AFRICA.

  • Heard about this from KennyKim’s tweet - all the best for this trip!

Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of making the drive down to Santa Barbara to shoot a promo for a friend and great photographer, Art Suwansang. We had a great time, shooting everywhere from the Mission Santa Barbara, to an urban setting(as urban as you can get in S.B) to cliffs overlooking the ocean. Shot on both my conventional Canon camcorder and the 5D MarkII. Thanks Art for trusting us with your promo!
