category: What we're doing

We first met Jim and Katarina a year earlier while working on the Graphi Studio project in Italy and we clicked from the start. We knew that we wanted to work together in some capacity in the future and back in October we met again in Italy.   This time to shoot their promo.

Jim’s photography is dramatic and beautiful and that’s the look and feel I went for in this promo. We traipsed around Tuscany and shot mostly in the small hill top town of Certaldo. Following Jim around shooting a bride in Italy is almost too easy.  I had enough good footage for two promos.

Thank you to Jim and Katarina whom we got to know much more on this trip.  They are a truly inspiring couple. My 3yr old daughter Trever still talks about that silly guy Jim :)

Thanks again guys!

Till next time.

Face painting, go cart racing, gourmet lunches, personal fitness training and some of the most passionate people in the industry are just some of the things you might witness if you visit the SmugMug headquarters in Mountain Veiw CA. They’ve created an atmosphere and culture there that has to be the coolest in Silicon Valley. If this video thing doesn’t work out for me I know where my first application is going :)

When we were commissioned to work on a project for Smugmug, I knew that their culture and passion would have to be highlighted because it is so very connected to their product and service. A remarkable company that not only was I honored to capture but also build a friendship with.

Thanks guys!

Bob & Dawn Promo Video ShootBob and Dawn were our first clients when I started Lorimerworks. Always encouraging, always pushing the envelope and always trusting(of me) with something that was so near and dear to them, their business. This is our third promo for Bob and Dawn and they were just as trusting however this time it was more than their business they trusted me with, it was their family, their personal side and what inspires and drives them.

We shot this promo in Switzerland earlier this year. From the streets of Lucerne to the Alps in Interlaken, it was an unforgettable time. Thank you to the Davis family for the trust and experience. And a special thanks to Daniel Zihlmann for all the help on set.

When I think of Kevin Weinstein I think, artist. It’s always inspiring for me to work with people  that continually look to grow their craft, their art, and that’s what Kevin does. We went to Chicago in June to shoot Kevin’s promo and despite some bad weather and an extra day, we got it done. We shot Kevin’s interview in his brand new studio. Go check it out if you’re in Chicago. It’s awesome!  We had beautiful couples in a beautiful city with a photograher that is full of energy and passion. What else could I ask for?

Thanks Kevin!

Every once in a while you encounter a person that has the ability to engage people, to really hold the attention of people and gain their trust. Dr. Cleve Stevens, founder of Owl Sight Intentions has that gift and uses it to help and change Fortune 500 Companies to become better leaders.
It was amazing to work with Cleve  and some of the people and organizations he has affected with Transformational Leadership.
In creating the concept for this promo we wanted to concentrate on testimonials along with b-roll of the world around us. Hope you enjoy. Thanks Cleve, for everything!

There are lots of words that I could use to describe Jim Davis Hicks however the one that most comes to mind is imaginative. It’s true, he’s a photographer, a philanthropist, a SW developer and the list goes on. However it’s his imagination of what his life can be and the world around him that makes him unique. After working on the the Thirst Relief promos for Jim it just seemed natural to work on a Promo for his photography business, and we had a blast! Jim, thanks for the opportunity and experience!

A little over four years ago Anton, out of the blue, told me he was thinking of buying a professional camcorder on Ebay, I thought “Ok, this should be interesting…”  he had never owned even a handy cam. It arrived a couple of weeks later and it didnt take long to realize that Anton was going to submerged himself in this new found interest.  Like most things in his life that he is passionate about Anton took on the challenge of learning everything he needed to know and then some. The stories he tells today through video started off with small steps. One of those small steps was taking an “Intro to Film” class at a local junior college.  Little did I know that his new “interest” would land me in the middle of my acting debut.  Recently, we came across his final project for that class, which Anton scripted, directed and produced.  Unfortunately, my acting didn’t do it justice.  The Job is still one of my favorite projects by Anton.  Hope you enjoy it!

It started with a conversation about possibly working on a photographer promo for Bob and Dawn Davis sometime this year. However when Dawn mentioned  they would be in Switzerland in a few weeks I thought to myself, that would be an awesome location, too bad it’s so soon and I’m so busy. Well, I was too busy but I went anyway. I mean, Switzerland for a job? I live for this stuff!

We shot some incredible footage, not hard in a country that is so picturesque. I’m really looking forward to editing this promo for the Davis’s. Beyond work, I brought the family. Abby wasn’t about to let me go to Switzerland without her and Trever(my daughter). Needless to say, we loved it.

Thank you to Bob and Dawn for trusting Lorimerworks to work on another project. It always means so much to have you guys put your passions and livelihood in my hands(insert evil laugh) ;) To Alli and Bobby you kept the group lively and on our toes, dont hurt yourself with those army knives. And thanks to Daniel Zihlmann for the behind the scene shots and for being such a great host.

Over the past few years, Lorimerworks has started to accumulate quite a bit of work and recently I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to showcase some of our favorites so that they are accessible to our client and fans.

I found the template of my website a little confining and though my blog is a great place to debut work it does not serve as a place to showcase our portfolio in whole.

Enter SmugMug. Not only is the video quality stunning when hosted at SmugMug but the fact that you can customize your pages to match your branding and tastes has made it an easy choice and a great solution to my needs.

We created a homepage that clearly showcases our work in a variety of categories such as Photographer promos, Business profiles and even a few weddings. In the near future I plan to add a miscellaneous gallery where I can post things that I may not necessarily blog or upload to my traditional site. The flexibility is a huge plus!. Check it out!

I’ve blogged about our trip and about the trailer I released a few months back. I’m happy to report the the main documentary is complete. It was an experience of a lifetime to work on this project. I hope in the end it achieves its purpose which is to bring some help and relief to those in need through Thirst Relief International.

Thank you to everyone involved, especially Jim Davis-Hicks for choosing Lorimerworks to tell the story of the amazing work you’re doing around the world, to Bob and Dawn Davis for all of your talent and giving hearts, Kenny Kim for helping tell the story through still imagery.

Spread the word and feel free to blog and embed the video.
