category: What we're doing

Not that he needs an introduction. With more friends on Facebook than some towns have residents, Kenny KIm seems to be a household name in the photography world. Kenny is always on the go. If you follow his twitter you might think he’s cloned himself. How else can he be in Chicago, New York and LA at the same time? I have to admit that working on Kenny’s promo was easy. First, we shot here in San Francisco :) Second, his clients were up for anything and were awesome. Lastly, Kenny had tons of energy and was so easy to work with. His laid back personality allowed me to get the shots I needed. THANKS Kenny, it was a pleasure.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Lorimerworks had the pleasure of working with Graphistudio at WPPI this year.

Graphi, being one of the premier album designers in the photography world had a huge presence at the convention and wanted to make sure it was documented. So we put together a short highlight of Graphi’s presence at WPPI which included 3 booths, a Ferrari, an espresso bar along with product launches, parties and of course some of the best photographers in the industry.

Last year while working with Gene Higa on his promo video, we followed him on a wedding in Winters, California.
While capturing Gene in action, I found myself in an incredibly beautiful location which has since become one of my favorite wedding venues, Bear Flag Farm. Tina Reikes, the owner of Bear Flag Farm is as passionate and driven as you might guess, with such a lovely and exclusive property. However, she is also extremely easy going and down to earth, we were friends from the start :).   After Tina saw Gene’s promo and the highlight video we did for Gene’s wedding clients, Aubrey and Aaron, she decided she wanted Lorimerworks to work on something for the farm.
It was a fun project with so much beautiful light and vibrant colors. Also, all those years of Abby forcing me to watch the Food Network paid off :)

Why is it that when I’m in Vegas time seems to stand still? A four night stay can seem like 2 weeks yet on the flight home I look back and think, wow, that flew by. Regardless it was a blast.

Abby and I packed our things a week ago to head to the dessert for a variety of reasons. One of those reasons was to work with a new client, Graphistudio, which was a pleasure. We look forward to working with Graphi in the future(more to come on Graphi in future posts). Another reason Abby and I went was to meet old friends and make new ones, and we definitely accomplished that. Lastly we wanted to party a bit :) which went hand in hand with seeing old friends. Good times!

One of the coolest things that happened at WPPI was also unexpected. People knew me :) and not to boast but it’s a stark difference to my experience last year when we shot our first projects as Lorimerworks(Vegas Love Story and the Super Swanky Soiree) where we knew four or five people. We received so many compliments from people we just met, people stopping me, people recognizing “Anton” on my badge, etc. I was overwhelmed and Abby and I are so grateful for all the kind words, kudos and encouragement we received. THANK YOU!!!

Am I a day late and a dollar short on the news that “Voyage” is up on the Canon site? Possibly, however, with a new blog I think I’m entitled to a little catch up :)

Well here it is, the video that was shot by Bob Davis using the Canon 5D MarkII and edited by Lorimerworks.
Bob, who is a Canon Explorer of Light, did an awesome job with the shoot and provided a great write up here.
I was honored that Bob wanted me to edit the piece and together I think we made a great team.
For those interested in the post production: The raw files were converted to Apple ProRes, edited on FCP and filtered using Magic Bullet.

Watch the HD version here on the Canon Site or watch the Standard Def version below.

Because Lorimerworks is constantly changing, evolving and creating, a blog was an inevitable decision. So, as we close in on our first year of business, we start our blog and hope to share much more of our work, relationships and experiences here.

As I mentioned, Lorimerworks has been in business now for a full year. To be honest Abby(my wife) and I have been blown away and very grateful for the relationships we’ve made, the projects we’ve been involved in and just the overall response to the work Lorimerworks has produced. 2008 far exceeded our expectations. Both our promo and wedding work really took off mid summer and we’ve been going strong since.

Our work has already brought us to many places to meet many great people. Las Vegas to work with Bob Davis and Sara France, Los Angeles and Napa to shoot Gene Higa. Florida to work with Garrett Nudd and off to NYC to capture Jason Groupp. Puerto Rico of all places to shoot Tomas Flint and to San Diego to meet the Youngrens. Rounding off the year in the OC to shoot Christine Bentley and of course Jasmine Star. And that was just our promo work. Thank you everyone for the support and friendship and we look forward to working with you again!
