What can I say? This is the fourth project that I’ve worked with Jasmine on and as always, it was a memorable one. I loved this project because it gave me a chance to be bit more stylish than I’ve had the chance to be recently. We decided to use her cover shoot as the main body so I wanted a hip fashion feel with a variety of “color looks”
Thanks again Jasmine and congrats on the magazine!

Shoot and edit a video of the company retreat? Hmmm, not something I usually do but I couldn’t pass up a week in the Rockies so Abby, Trever and I flew out and spent a week with Smugmug partying, white water rafting, alpine sliding, and sightseeing in the national parks, oh, did I mention the rodeo? And somewhere along the way we manged to shoot some video. Here’s a highlight of the week that we created for internal use but hey, why not share, such a cool company.

Can’t wait till next year!
The upside to this shoot was that I had a Ferrari 458 Italia at my fingertips and shooting a good angle of this car is much like finding a beautiful location in the country it’s from, it’s easy. The tough part was that we didnt have the car on the road so it would have to be static, or close to static. So I tried to shoot interesting angles with camera movemnt to try and capture, not only its beauty but Ferrari’s passion for design and engineering. Hope you like.

It’s been a busy year and I wish I were more productive when it comes to blogging so that I could share more of our work. That will change have I said that before?

Minot North Dakota, definitely different from where I reside, and although I had never heard of Minot, I have to admit I was pretty excited to go see a part of the country I might not otherwise have the chance to see. Jason and Amy Gemar of Gemar Photography had me come up to produce a promo for their company and North Dakota was the perfect backdrop. With amazing locations and beautiful models, Jason and Amy were simply left to do their thing and me to mine. Loved the rolling hills, the train trestle and of course the wheat fields. Thanks Jason and Amy, you guys made it easy for me!

Lorimerworks had the pleasure of teaming up with SmugMug again to create an inspirational piece for their professional services. By rounding up four photographers at the top of their respective industries we wanted to tell a story of who they were and how Smugmug fits into their professional lives. And to do that we had to go on location to really capture what they do first hand.

We followed Trey Ratcliff on a windswept beach at Big Sur, captured Jim Garner interacting with his clients as only he does in the streets of Seattle, trekked on foot and mountain bike with Kevin Winzeler in Salt Lake City and experienced the incredible studios of Sandy Puc in Denver.

It was another great experience for me with all the people involved. Thanks so much for participating guys!

And of course to Smugmug. Thanks for trusting Lorimerworks.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a thing for cars. And yes, I’m probably dating myself but the Cannonball Run set the hook, I was 8 years old. Although I enjoyed the brilliant acting it was the Lamborghini Countach that I enjoyed most. The look, the speed and of course the sound.

So, when given the opportunity to create a promo for Club Sportiva I jumped. A company that rents, tours and provides fractional ownership of exotics cars.
I wanted the promo to be less about what Club Sportiva actually does but rather capture the experience and thrill of driving an exotic.
What I wanted to capture in particular was the beauty of the cars along with the sensation of speed and of course the sound.
Thanks Club Sportiva!

Big thanks to everyone who helped.
Chris MacAskill and Dustin Bess over at SmugMug, Ruch and Steven from Club Sportiva and my buddy Clay Wilson.
Thanks guys!

Production stuff:
Shot on the 5DMkII, Variety of Canon L series lenses, Car mount rig, Kanova Slider and the ATM Gyro mounted in the back of my SUV monitored with the Small HD DP6. Cars: Lamborghini Gallardo Spider, Ferrari F430
Gyro note:
Loved using the Gryo, easy to set up and a relatively quick learning curve.
Rented from Blue Sky Aerials, thanks Thomas
that brings wedding vendors together in San Francisco. The brain child of Hazel Bourget. We wanted to create a promo that is clean,
contemporary and where the actual members told most of the story.
Check it out!

As the second half of 2010 rolled around I knew Jasmine and I would collaborate on a new project that would debut at her Platform talk at WPPI. I also new that I’d be out of the country for a month vacationing with the family.
So why not combine the two? Luckily Jasmine felt the same way so her and JD met us in Tuscany to shoot this promo and in the meantime stayed with Abby, Trever and I just outside San Gimignano.
It turned out to be a great location for the story line and some of the metaphors we would later use in the final edit.

Jasmine has an uncanny ability to connect with people and then inspire those people with her story. And that was the goal, to connect and to inspire. Thank you Jasmine for trusting us yet again to help tell your story!

So I shoot video and I love cars, why not mix the two? In fact it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for some time. I finally decided to make time and test the waters to see what the challenges of shooting automobiles were. So I took my Vette out last weekend and gave it a go. Turns out there’s a lot to learn. Here’s my first attempt, it’s a work in progress and definitely not my last, I had a blast.

Lorimerworks has a new site! As Lorimerworks grows and evolves, it was becoming apparent that we were outgrowing our old website and needed something new. We wanted something that could….keep up :) Plus, I like change. It was just time.

And thanks to Showit, I am loving the site! I wanted something scalable and something that could grow as we do. That being said, because I can be a control freak, I needed something that I could personally tweak, modify and update on the fly. Showit seemed to be the perfect fit. It is just that, very scalable, easy to grow and change (all by myself). Ultimately, it’s easy integration of video made it a no brainer. It’s probably the geek in me but I get seriously excited over the level of customization possible.
